Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think it's a separate island somewhere west of Montreal however, the West Island is home to all things from the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. However, it's not the case. Brugel was an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. Then, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she was able to have. She admitted in an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. The moment I outgrew any male partner and stopped dancing, I quit. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who shifted into acting. Her teacher from high school encouraged her in the right direction. The teacher recommended that she audition for an annual school play. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. It led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. Over the past 20 years, her roles in the world of television and on the screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel is the sole Canadian on the Season 1 cast of the show and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
